Here’s a fairly new review on magicjack service and it’s limitations from FayObserver.com :

Q: I keep hearing about Magic Jack, the telephone business. Your phone bill’s supposed to be not over $3 a month. I know you have to plug it into a computer or something. Is it reliable? – D.M., Sanford

A: This appears to be one infomercial product that actually does work well for a lot of customers. It’s become very popular this year. But the company has also fielded complaints about trouble using the 30-day money-back guarantee and that its online-only customer service isn’t much good.

Still, the Florida-based business gets an A-minus rating from the Better Business Bureau, which says the company has honored every refund request.

The Magic Jack is a connector that allows you to plug a regular phone into your computer and use your Internet connection to make phone calls anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. The connector retails for $39.95. The first year of service is free, and buyers have the option to buy an additional year of service for $19.95, which is about $1.66 per month.

  1. Does my pansonic wireless answering machine have to be connected to it in order to answer & record messages. My answering machine is in my kitchen, but my computer & cable, modem is in my office space about 4 rooms away.
